God of this City

Hi Friends!

Campus Ohio's 40 days of prayer have been wrapped up...but UC is still going strong until this weekend! Keep them in your prayers as they continue to pray for their campus.

This year we had some struggles getting Campus Ohio off the ground. Some schools were having trouble finding space, finding students to pray, finding support, and finding inspiration to dedicate hours of prayer to their campuses. We had many new campuses join us this year!! Praise God for them! We also had many many new schools who wanted to pray but couldn't get it going this year, they hope to join the network of prayer around the state next year.

Through these many struggles, our team has seen how beautiful God's plan is for us. We did not pray for 40 consecutive days this semester, but we did pray. We didn't have 40 schools...we had about 18 campuses praying. But it totally does not matter!! We entered into the throne room of God and laid our requests before Him. We prayed for individual students stood in the gap on behalf of our campuses. God has been glorified by your dedication and heart for your campus and for taking the time to talk with Him.

Prayer on our campuses is not a once a year event....it is all the time, keep praying and keep dreaming big dreams for your campus. Though it may seem impossible God has huge plans for the people there!

I was in Atlanta over the weekend for the Passion Conference and Chris Tomlin played a new song that his band got from a band over in Ireland. The band from Ireland was ministering in Thailand in a city that is considered on of the sex-trade capitals of the world. They were invited to play at a bar...the bar owner did not know they were a worship band. This band spent the entire day singing praise and worship and lifting prayers up to God amongst the brokenness of prostitution and despair at this bar. During their time God handed them this beautiful new song. They just began to play it and it goes like this: (I have uploaded the song to our Audio Section on this blog check it out!)

you're the God of this city

you're the King of these people

you;re the Lord of this nation

you're the light of  this darkness

you're the hope of  the hopeless

you're the peace to restless

there is no one like our God

Greater things have yet to come and

greater things are still  to be done in this city

Remember that God is the God of our campuses and our cities....greater things are to come!

Blessings,

Campus ohio team!

In Absolute Amazement...

Liz Gliem from the Agricultural Technical Institue in Wooster, OH writes:

"I'm still in absolute amazment at what Jesus did at ATI. I still get goose bumps and still lay awake at night thinking of all those students praying over their campus. The rest of the 24 hours went great. In fact we had students staying over and refusing to leave, and students wanting to accompany other students in the wee hour times. I mean God moved in their hearts. We even had a guy come just wanting to help us tear down the prayer room and asking when we could do this again."

coming together...

On March 1, students from Ohio colleges and universities came together for a family reunion--eating together, sharing stories of God, praying, and worshiping Him together. We learned how prayer is like taking walks with God. We walk not out of obligation but out of relationship with Father. We walk not expecting Him to accomplish all that we want during a walk but trusting Him that He will do what He wants. That is the picture that I received for these 40 days--walks getting to know Father better and living in more trust with Him. Welcome to an incredible journey.

Answered Prayers: Suicidal man at Ohio University persuaded to live

Ohio  University student Holly Bader shares with us a remarkable story from February 8th.  Praying students on OU's campus intervened with prayer and action while a faculty member threatened to end his life by jumping from a 5-story ledge.  Read about this story that's hit the front page news in Ohio, in the Columbus Dispatch.  These students are committed to hours and hours of prayer together each week, and God is answering their prayers.

Holly writes,

Hello fellow heirs of God! I hope everyone is well; I know God has shown me nothing but relentless patience, love and faithfulness these past months and continues to awe me of His glorious ways.

As some may have heard, this past Friday a faculty member here at Ohio University threatened his life when he literally sat on the ledge of the fifth floor balcony in our Baker Student Center .  He told people he was going to jump and end his life.  He found a spot in the corner on a ledge and sat there for hours contemplating his life. Well, it just so happened (wink, wink!) that some fellow brothers and sisters just finished worshiping at the Galbreath Chapel down the street and were headed in that direction. When they realized that the Baker Center had been evacuated, they found out what was happening and went to the scene to begin praying to our Jesus.

My friend Stephanie suddenly felt God tell her to get people to write letters of His love and Truth, so the police could read them to the man in hopes that he would change his mind. Students began writing Truth and Scripture to this man. One of my friends opened her Bible and the first verse that she read was Revelation 21:4: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." She knew she had to tell the man this. She wrote the truth of Jesus' blood and how his desire is to heal his broken heart and be his Lord for all eternity. Toward the end of her letter she extended an invitation to this man to come to their home if he wanted to talk, and she put her phone number down.  After these students had written encouragement from God, they attempted to tell the police God's idea to read the letters aloud to the man so he would come down. Their first initial response was "No", but a bit later the police figured it was worth a try!

A call for prayer was put into effect, and this man's life was lifted up to the throne room of God. Hours went by, and eventually Katie received a call from one of the faculty members who got her number from the letter Katie wrote. The lady informed her that right after they read the man the letters of God's love, he surrendered and got down. Sovereign Lord! Reporter after reporter called, asking for the details on how they got the idea to write this man. Of course, our Lord God was glorified AGAIN. Katie and Steph told them it was Jesus Christ!! It was JESUS CHRIST!

Lord Jesus, we absolutely worship you. You're brilliant, Lord, and we give you all the glory, honor and praise, God. Lord, we're believing you to draw this man to your heart. We're believing you to draw the fellow students on our campuses to your heart, Father God, through this. Be glorified! In your precious and holy name Jesus, Amen.
